The cosmetic industry has always strived to improve the efficiency of the products while keeping alow cost per formula in order to offer the most cost effective and efficiency driven product. It has ledto some downward slides with the use ofaffordableingredientshaving harmful effects on the longterm such as inflammation, increase of skin dryness or even cancer in some cases.
In order to protect the consumers, the authorities reacted by banning a list of ingredients known forbeing dangerous or suspected to inflict harmful effects.
However, there is no worldwide regulation when it comes to determining which product must beidentified as potentially dangerous. It means that every country can decide which ingredient removeand/or at which dosage. This lack of harmony has caused wide disparities in the prohibited list ofingredients to be used in a cosmetic product.
In concrete terms, the USA have decided to ban 11 ingredients known for being dangerous.
In contrast, France, along with European Union, has taken drastic measures to ensure no ingredienteven suspected to cause harmful effects would be present for the consumers. All the ingredientsprohibited in USA are also banned in France along with 1317 other ingredients.
Among them, you can find :
Paraben: Parabens are commonly used as preservatives in cosmetics.Of greatest concern is thatparabens are known to disrupt hormone function, an effect that is linked to increased risk of breastcancer and reproductive toxicity.
Formaldehyde: Formaldehyde and Formaldehyde-releasing ingredients are used as apreservativetokill microorganisms, or prevent or inhibit their growth in products. TheEnvironmental ProtectionAgency (EPA) has classifiedformaldehydeas a "probablehumancarcinogen." National CancerInstitute researchers have concluded that, based on data from studies in people and from lab research, exposure toformaldehyde may cause leukemia, particularly myeloid leukemia, inhumans.
Coal tar dyes can be found in Americans’ eyeshadow, yearsafter they were banned in France.
Asbestos exposure which is a long-time well-known product to cause illness. The EnvironmentalProtection Agency (EPA) attempted to ban this substance in 1989 but got overturned by the federalcourt.
And around 1300 other ingredients...
In order to guarantee the highest level of safety to our consumers, Ma French Beauty scrupulouslyrespects the 1328 ingredients prohibited in France.
